Adrian Goldberg is one of Canada's most accomplished television lighting designers. With more than 27 years of experience and over 350 project credits he has extensive experience in all aspects of lighting design, consulting and project management in such areas as Live TV Broadcast for special events and productions, TV network production, film and facility installations and corporate events. He has worked throughout Canada and the USA as well as Europe, South America, Asia, Australia and the Middle East

Adrian is presently the President of TAD Lighting Services Ltd., located in Toronto, Ontario and is a Director of Adagio Productions Inc. His company, TAD Lighting Services provides lighting design of major event productions for live TV broadcast; design, consultation and installation of new broadcast facilities; consultation and design services for the integration of broadcast quality lighting systems in Multi Media projects; integration of lighting, pyrotechnic special effects, laser and video production with overall audience based productions. In addition to the above, TAD Lighting Services is involved in training in EFP and television lighting techniques.

Adrian has also been a guest lecturer at Ryerson University and Centennial College in Toronto where he has taught Practical Studio and EFP lighting techniques. His 10 part television lighting course for industry professionals is the basis for the lighting training programme offered to Broadcast Professionals around the world.

Manager / Lighting Designer: Lightsource Rental Facility, Toronto (1988 –1993)

When the opportunity arose to enter the business world of lighting, Adrian took over managing the Lightsource Rental Facility at Wallace Studio's in Toronto. While managing the rental facility he also was Lighting Designer / Lighting Director on selected projects such as the Skydome Opening Ceremonies, and the CTV Barcelona Olympics.

Landmark Productions - "Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future" (1987)

One of the largest production firms to set up in Toronto in the late 80's hired Adrian to design and install their 80,000 sq ft studio. A complete grid, dimming and cyclorama system was constructed in an abandoned bus terminal. A second 6,000 sq. ft. studio was subsequently added to shoot all the miniature and motion control segments. For 7 months "Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future" was the mainstay of the Ontario Film industry.

Lighting Director: Global Television Network (1980 –1986)

After several years in theatre, the opportunity presented itself to make the switch to the broadcast world with the Global Television Network. After 3 years working on various location and studio productions including Wintario and Loving Friends and Perfect Couples, Adrian was promoted to Lighting Director for the Network, with responsibility for the look of all on air presentations, remote broadcasts for the Ontario Lottery Corporation, the management and operation of the Lighting Department, rebuilding the Studio facilities and the Lighting Direction of all non Global productions using the Don Mills Facility. In 1986, as a result of his work at Global with Jim Henson Production's, Adrian was asked to work with the International division of Henson & Associates on several projects in the UK and Los Angeles.

Lighting Design and Direction & Consultant - Continuing Productions

Lighting Designer/Consultant: CTV (1992 – Present)

Since 1992 Adrian has been the Lighting Designer and Consultant for much of the CTV Produced programming. This design work has developed into a lasting relationship with most of the departments in the CTV family.

  • CTV Television Network – Lighting Design, Lighting Direction and Consultation of Network production including Canada AM, National News, NewsNet,
    W-Five, CFTO News, Business and Internal promotion and training, Ottawa News Bureau, CIVT Vancouver, CTV Winnipeg.
  • TSN Design and Installation including all new HD Studios that came on line in the summer of 2006
  • ROBTV (BNN), Design and Installation. (1999-2003)

Lighting Designer/Consultant: Rogers Sportsnet (1998 – 2008)

Since CTV originally launched the Sportsnet channels Adrian has been the Lighting Designer and Consultant for all sets and studios at their Agincourt facility. Since Rogers takeover of the channel in 2002, Adrian retained his role as Lighting Designer / Lighting Director for the studio facilities. During that time he also designed the 3 new studios that came on line in April / May 2008 at the Rogers studio facility in Downtown Toronto.

Lighting Designer/Consultant: ART/AMC (1996)

In 1996 Adrian spent several months in Cairo Egypt training the camera and lighting staff of ART and AMC in Studio and EFP production lighting and camera techniques. The lessons developed into a course for Television students at the American University in Cairo. Several studio facilities were built under the guidance of Adrian including the Tivoli Theatre in Cairo and the El Gabri Studio's at Giza.

Lighting Installation and Design Consultant – Selected Facility Installation

Adrian's experience with television lighting design has lead to the design and development of broadcast facilities becoming a large part of his relationship with existing clients, as well as many new ones who come to know of Adrian's expertise. In addition, several architectural projects are underway that are utilizing Adrian's knowledge of event themed lighting instrumentation and control. These projects include:
